ALUWANI Capital Partners is an independent owner managed investment management business, registered with the Financial Services Board (FSB) and is an approved investment manager in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS). Our core offering is active investment management with research and product capabilities across all asset classes. We manage approximately R67 billion, as at 31 March 2016, on behalf of institutional clients, which includes Retirement Funds, Medical Schemes, Treasuries, State Owned Enterprises, Corporates and Insurers.
While the business was founded in December 2015, we have over 20 years of investment management experience and pedigree. ALUWANI Capital Partners came into being following a management buy-out of Momentum Asset Management’s third party institutional business from MMI Holdings by senior staff.
What’s in the name: The idea behind the formation of ALUWANI was premised by the desire to create a majority Black owned entity that would play a transformational role within South Africa while positively contributing towards prosperity of all our stakeholders, including clients, staff, shareholders and communities.
ALUWANI, which is a Tshivenda name meaning “to prosper or to grow”, is thus reflective of this foundation of our business.
Our values guide all interactions, internally and externally, enabling us to build principled and sustainable partnerships with all our stakeholders. We believe that as an investment management business, our people are invaluable in enabling the business to meet client expectations.
We, therefore, place great emphasis on a culture that allows individuals the freedom to express themselves and nurtures development. The core values that define our actions include Empathy; Teamwork; Accountability; Frankness and Good Citizenship. For us it is not just about the “WHAT” we do that is important but also “HOW” we do it.
